Known as a jack-of-all-trades, butler's pantries are both functional and serve as a traditional style area in a home. Its original purpose is that of its name, whereas a butler would keep all the china and other important dinner items stored in. In this project, instead of finding the area outdated, designer Becca Stephens incorporated it with the kitchen design.

We began by demoing out the cabinetry and backsplashes in the kitchen and butler’s pantry. New custom-built cabinetry with matte black hardware was installed in the accommodation of the existing appliances and skeleton. The cabinetry surrounding the sink in the kitchen was customized to fit a farmhouse-style sink. Originally used to hold many gallons of water gathered from a well, farmhouse sinks are beautiful, spacious, and timeless, adding a distinctive look to any kitchen they're placed in.

For the countertops, both the kitchen and BP received terra quartz in white sand finishes. The island countertop renovation consisted of a slab oversized terra quartz in a Taj Mahal Triton finish on top of a grooved bottom. Marquise style tiling was used for the backsplash tiling in the main kitchen area, extending into the built-in desk area. The final details of the BP were optimizing the overhead area. Becca incorporated an oversized mirror with a wooden border. In front of the mirror, two hanging accent lights with a chain end were installed to add more dimension to the room.

This project took many aspects of the “outdated” areas and appliance, such as the butler’s pantry and the farmhouse sink and optimized them into focal and practical amenities the homeowners would ensure using for years to come.

How amazing is this renovation? Are you also scanning your house to find a place to fit a butler’s pantry like I am?
