Gilmer Drive Area Project
Young international couple that pined for a more open, modern layout for their early 1900s home in a well established area only minutes from downtown. The kitchen had been poorly updated years before by a previous owner. We removed a wall and added 10 feet to the back exterior wall of a seemingly "outcast" dining room. The kitchen fit beautifully in the new addition and the dining room moved to the vacated kitchen area. This allowed the kitchen ample opportunity for light on two walls. A new (currently in process) brick-walled wine room takes the place of the previous bench seating that was difficult to use. New doors exit onto a cozy private patio, one in the kitchen and another in the dining area. The couple have since had a party of 25-30 people and they rave that the new space works beautifully and feels much more connected to the rest of their charming home!
