Feinmann transformed an outdated kitchen and bath for a client in Belmont, Massachusetts. The homeowner wanted a transitional styled kitchen that nicely connected with the living and allowed for ample sitting and dining space. They also wanted a master bathroom with a bright and tranquil feel that included dual sinks and lots of storage space.

The Kitchen

Using the existing floor plan, Feinmann created a transitional styled kitchen by removing the side island, which allowed direct access to the sitting area. We expanded the center island to include seating for three people, a large sink, a dishwasher, and plenty of cooking space. Painted in Cityscape, a warm neutral gray, the Greenfield cabinetry instills a furniture-look with wainscoting paneling on both sides of the island. We discreetly hid the stove hood by venting it into the basement for a clean look. We painted the upper cabinets behind the stove and around the kitchen’s perimeter in Silver Lining, which brightens the space considerably. We used LG Muse, elegant white quartz, for the kitchen countertop, which has subtle gray veins and is ideal for this transitional design.

Behind the stove boasts a hidden storage feature with a sliding wall of Snow White and Afyon White Baby Picket Marble tile, which allows the homeowner to neatly conceals pantry items and small appliances. We created lots of closed storage space through ample drawers; a cabinet covered refrigerator and freezer, a wine fridge, and a specialty dog food cabinet.

Finishing this space is a sitting room with a new 3-sided glass fireplace offering a modern feel and a wealth of overhead lighting that illuminates the entire remodeled area.

The Master Bathroom

Keeping the bathroom’s original footprint, Feinmann transformed an inefficient master bathroom into a modern space filled with luxury and specialty features. We removed the tub and turned this into a built-in vanity with Greenfield cabinets painted in Gray Matter with ample storage. We also added dual sinks surrounded by a custom mirror and a backsplash in glass mosaic tiles called Atlantis Aneone. The counters are finished in stain and impact resistant Silestone (N-Boost Charcoal), while the floor steals finished in Calcutta Roma with a Carrara Bella basketweave inlay framed by Lunar Gray Glass tiles. Next, we expanded the shower’s height by removing the soffit ceilings and installed a steam feature with a heated bench and heated flooring. Balancing the space with the counters, we used a darker contrast bench in the shower. Finished with a towel warmer and surround sound speakers, this master bathroom now delivers a modern warmth that is fit for relaxation.
