For this project, located in an established central city neighborhood, the clients wanted to build a low-maintenance, energy efficient home in keeping with the scale and character of the adjacent homes. Their original 600sf cottage was salvaged by moving it off the lot to a new location. The new home took shape around a large shade tree in the backyard.

The new 2380sf, 2-story home has a reflective galvalume metal roof and metal clad wood windows sitting on top of a stone sill course. The exterior walls are sided in stone and hardiplank. Inside, the lower level is united by slate flooring throughout the open floor plan. The kitchen features pendant and cove lighting, granite countertops, and stainless steel appliances and backsplashes. The pantry is finished in a patinaed copper and contrasts with the stained maple cabinets and red Caesarstone central island countertop. The living room is illuminated by cove lighting, and passive lighting through the large glass doors leading to the backyard and side patio. The media center of stained maple cabinetry is adjacent to a sealed combustion fireplace. The powder room is outfitted with a custom steel countertop with stone vessel sink. The upper level of the home is devoted to the master suite, a guest room with a private bath, and a utility room.
