Primary Bath With Elegance

The owners of this 15 year old home were ready to transform their tired master bath into a luxurious one to match the interior styling of the home. They wanted to improve the storage possibilities in the vanity area, enlarge the shower and bring more natural light into the room.

The owners envisioned a more refined level of cabinetry, resembling the antique furniture in the bedroom. Cherry was chosen for the base cabinets and for the wall treatment behind the mirrors. The new cabinetry features two vanities with a central linen cabinet, medicine cabinets recessed into the side walls under the Swarovski Crystal scones, and additional drawers under the sinks. The countertops are finished with onyx and a mosaic tile backsplash.

With the corner tub removed, a new Victoria & Albert claw foot tub fits quite nicely under the new obscured leaded glass windows. Natural light filters into the new walk-in shower tiled in travertine. As a compliment to the leaded glass windows, the closet doors have been repainted and fitted with custom panels that match the artwork of the windows.

Highlights of the project include the rustic Cherry cabinetry with a distressed finish, created using a multi-step finishing process. To achieve the antique look, the turned pilasters and grooves were accentuated with a darker stain. Also noteworthy is the detailing in the borders and liners, circling the entire room.
The owners are enjoying the elegant new bath, with its warm wood cabinetry and cool stone floors. With the large new window, they have complete privacy during the day and plenty of lighting options in the evening.
