Cupertino Contemporary Ranch Addition/Remodel
Filling in the "Ell" of a post-war ranch-style tract home is a common request amongst homeowners.
This house required reorienting the garage door to face the street, which in turn allowed for separate pedestrian and auto zones in the front yard. The former driveway was thereby freed up for a large expansion that brought the house towards the street.
We introduced a variety of roof forms in order to mitigate what could have been a massive front elevation. A unique mix of hip and gable roofs help differentiate and blend the house into the neighborhood at the same time.
A simple interior and exterior pallette of natural stone, stain grade wood, and light colored smooth walls creates a calm but warm effect.
The total project cost, including all interior and exterior finishes and landscaping, was just over $500,000.
