Menlo Park Craftsman
This “Craftsman”-influenced home features a combination of cement fiber shingle and lap siding, composite railings, brackets, and exterior trim, and clad wood double paned windows. Color palette is understated, mostly light earth tones and greys.
The driver of our design was an effort to elegantly comply with restrictive city ordinances. An existing Japanese maple tree was carefully preserved and made a focal point in the design. The layout of the house maximizes the backyard and indoor/outdoor connection, while providing ample room for a generous west-facing basement lightwell. The facade offers a balanced, self-effacing composition to the street.
