Saratoga Hillside Contemporary

After developing a fully-approved design for a young real estate professional, we found ourselves working with a new property owner after a land + entitlements sale in late 2021.

The new owner, a seasoned local real estate developer, liked the gently sloping oak-studded parcel and site/floor plans we had developed, but was interested in a more sophisticated contemporary design. Taking heed of this challenge, we not only revised our design to a minimalist white contemporary, but also refined and improved the site and floor plan as well.

Featuring a modest front facade designed to minimize the impact of vehicle headlights, the home welcomes its residents and visitors with a gracious parking court with textured permeable paving, great views to the south, and a playful water feature. A linear skylight beginning above the front door and continuing down the entry hall leads visitors into the home.

The living and great rooms re-engage the water feature and command the view through a series of portals and terraces at multiple levels. The entry skylight feature makes another appearance in the primary suite, unifying the concept across the home's public and private wings. Four additional en-suite bedrooms are on their own level 3' above the public wing and primary suite, affording mutual privacy and minimizing site grading.

Directly under the master suite is the home's basement fitness center, featuring an indoor pool with walkout patio, gym, and wet + dry saunas.
