Menlo Park Ranch Remodel/Addition II

Located on a quiet cul-de-sac in a leafy part of desirable Menlo Park near downtown, our remodel design for this classic 1950's ranch home leverages the good "bones" of the existing home while modernizing it for today's lifestyle and our client's aesthetic preferences.

Modest front and rear additions maintain the integrity of the ranch neighborhood, and belie the dramatic changes within. The choppy existing floor plan is opened up, and the uniform 8' ceilings are raised to 9', 12', and 15' in various areas to bring in more light and differentiate the open plan.

The remodeled kitchen is the heart of the house, with windows to the front, views to the back, and a tall clerestory space over the island that creates a focal point on the front elevation, and skylit well on the interior.

A raised covered patio replaces an at-grade uncovered brick patio, providing the clients with a three-seasons "outdoor" room and enhanced indoor-outdoor flow.
