The furred down ceiling is removed, and everything is replaced from the shower pan to the tiled ceiling. The home owner selected the materials, and approved the layout on site.

The existing vanity, toilet and floor tile are retained. Wallpaper is stripped and the walls textured and painted. Crown molding is updated. All the peripheral elements are selected by the home owner.

Working around the dense and irregular framing to lay out the niche

The home owner kept the existing tub and floor tile. Walls were stripped of wallpaper, then textured and painted. Tub and shower plumbing was redone, and the niche custom built to fit the selected tile. The tub surround was tiled, and the brass fixtures added.

The existing tile was mica, which had been flaking off for several years, creating a wide variation in the floor surface. Water was collecting between two layers of floor tile as well. We replaced the floor and bench seat without affecting the wall tiles or shower pan.

The existing mica tile is removed from the floor and bench seat. An older floor is discovered, which has been sealed in fiberglass and mesh, so we leave it as is. The bench seat is painted in water barrier and prepped for tile.
