This breakfront (hutch) is an antique family heirloom, and it became the anchor for the long and open kitchen/dining space. Black windows and Pottery Barn curtains flank the breakfront. A custom table made from 1800's reclaimed church floors comfortably seats 8, with bench seating on one side.

The soffit on the right houses the plumbing for the upstairs bathroom, so while it was able to become smaller, it couldn't be eliminated. Creating a matching faux soffit on the left created symmetry, and became the perfect backdrop for the gold Crate and Barrel sconces.

With six people (and dogs and chickens), this busy household needs organization solutions. The family calendar, bulletin board, and wall-mounted filing system keep everything organized and at arms-reach.

Before - with paint samples onto the island since we knew it was going away on demo day! The dining room is on the other side of the wall with the microwave and oven, and that wall was taken down to completely open the space.

Opened up the wall between the kitchen and dining room, turned the small(er) L-shaped kitchen into a longer, and more functional space, with a 10' island.
