Houzz TV: 6 Items That Solve Your Jewelry Organization Problems
Organization can be fun, especially when it comes to displaying your accessories. In this episode of Houzz TV, New York organizer Jeanie Engelbach shares how she uses six unconventional items to create quick, inexpensive jewelry displays. She reminds everyone that “if you don’t see it, you don’t wear it.”

love the bulldogs ; )
Great ideas! Love your yellow cabinet.
That may be fine for an old salvaged cabinet. I would never consider hammering nails or screwing cup hooks into my beautiful wood cabinets.
great ideas but personally have zero surface for anything as I have a reach-in closet and not a walk-in. Could not possibly use the minimalist bit of surface i have on my dresser or bedside table.... sigh :) BUT awesome ideas nevertheless
I love the desert tray. I'm going to get one for my wife (I think she'll love it too.). For the watches, also, great idea, but I believe those are "push pins", "not thumb tacks".
Long live Houzz ideas, nails and cup hooks
Maybe I need to dust too many little collections already with forced air heating, but dusting the "fluff" out of a bracelet or dangle earrings is not how I want to spend my time. Worse is not to notice "fluff and cat hair" in a bracelet until you see it while offering food to a guest. ;>)
She doesn't wear earrings?
I have a lot of French hook earrings and a bought a pretty antique saucer and "hang" them around the rim (so the stones fall toward the center). It looks really pretty, your pairs are always together and I put hoops and studs in the center. It takes very little space. I have received many complements from my friends.
I use clear plastic egg holders for my earrings. Group by color or metal. Easy to find exactly what I want and they are stackable. I keep my jewelry in a furniture piece with french doors.
I do not like to display my jewelry out in the open except for my bracelets, bangles - I put them in a large crystal bowl on my dresser - visible and tidy.
I give her an "A" for effort. She has a LOT of jewelry and it actually becomes a funky design element in her bedroom. I would have to choose that OR all the small pictures though, because I like a calm bedroom. I typically don't keep jewelry out, but currently have a small square Asian dish in the bathroom to hold my frequently worn earrings. Because of sloped walls I can't have a mirror over the dresser and use the bathroom mirror for make-up & earrings. Other jewelry is tucked away mainly because I no longer wear it, but also don't have the heart to get rid of it :-(
I use a man type tie hanger for all my necklaces. It takes up very little space inside a closet or even on the inside of a closet door. You can put stick--on felt on the door or behind the hanger in a closet to keep the necklaces from banging on the door. The one I use has two levels and can hang about 60 necklaces and or bracelets very simple, very inexpensive, and keeps the clutter hidden but useful.
@Angie T. - please post a picture of your french hook saucer holder
I like the paint roller idea. You can buy a foam one and tuck it in a top drawer if you're not into the fuzz and display aspect. Open and look.
Angie T, can you post a photo please?
I agree, the video idea is great, and economical. However, jewelry will get dusty and dirt, plus looks too messy and cluttered.
I don't like the clutter either. I keep my ear rings in plastic divided bins used for storing beads in jewelry making (stored in my bathroom vanity) and store necklaces , rings, watches and sets in a large standing jewelry chest and the rest in four stacking bins with dividers in my closet. Neat and tidy and out of site. But I go through it regularly and know exactly what I have.
Paint rollers! Genius!!
I love Jeanie! She's truly an original who creates her own life with confidence, a sense of humor and unique style. I say give this woman a DIY show -- she's got star talent!
Love this! Someone was reading my mind. I downsized to a 1000 sq foot cabin and purged all my furniture and got jewelry pilled up everywhere! Thank you for the great ideas
@neemers: i love you too! thanks for the awesome comment!! perhaps houzz will consider your suggestion. we've got a few more organizational videos that will be posted soon.
As someone who was a jewelry and accessories buyer for decades, I think the paint roller idea is genius and ummm, it's usually what designers use for their fall/winter display. It's a great idea! I've never heard of a paint roller shedding, they would ruin the paint job.
From one jewelry junkie to another. A divided tool box is great for earrings, necklaces, rings, and flexible bracelets. The top is clear, so it's easy to see what is on the top layer. Paint roller for bangles is a winner. My bangles are in a clear shoe box. i keep these boxes on a small book shelf in a closet.
This is an old picture frame, spray painted. I taped screen material to the back and added inexpensive hardware hooks to hang jewelry.
Very creative
I love the artist's mannequin with the bracelets. So colorful and lots of personality. Just one pet peeve is her rubber bracelets. I've always disliked those...so weird and ugly to me. Looks like you're wearing miniature bicycle inner tubes. But everything else is great!
