See 1 Designer Deliver 2 Distinct Bachelor Looks
Dustin Paige and Andrew Kletzing were ready for a change. Both Chicago bachelors wanted to upgrade and personalize their respective homes, but they needed help to pull it off. Each researched on Houzz and sought the help of local interior designer Anthony Michael.
“They both realized that their college-boy digs were just not cutting it, and they both felt overwhelmed when it came to feathering their nests,” Michael says. “Their overall designs are two completely different attitudes, one being more of a turn-of-the-century steampunk feel, while the other has a more nightclub vibe.”

Wow - fabulous job! Great use of color, especially on the walls. This designer really knows how to personalize a space with fun, imagination, and style.
Two fabulous homes! Thanks so much for the video tours, there were so many interesting pieces to look at. Successful collaborations for all, that's a great outcome. Lots of living to be had, best wishes to you.
Anthony Michael is so talented!! These two homes are the most gorgeous and put together residences that I've ever seen on Houzz. He captured the essence of each client in a manner that just screams WOW!!
Great video and wonderful designs for both homes!
Anthony is a genius ! He really picked up both these young men's requirements. The results are gorgeous!!!
the colour mix in both apartments is gorgeous! great job there!
REPEAT WOWWWWW! Anthony Michaels, your talent explodes on these pages. AMAZING and EXCITING. Thank you for the design eye candy and EXCEPTIONAL TALENT that you've shared. Just love it all. I wish that you could do my home :)????
Anthony , when can you come to my houzz! You made both these owners look like very interesting people!
Anthony truly listened to his clients and the results are fantastic!
Two seductive and distinctive looks that give a taste of the personalities of their owners.
As a woman who's seen a few 'bachelor pads' over the years, these would make me swoon and show me that a man with taste and intelligence lives there. And that's my kind of guy.
Congratulations, and thanks on behalf of women everywhere, to Anthony and his clients.
He did it so great. Would like to have someone like him to help me. My place needs to change at all and I do not have the ability to do it. Enjoy both their place.
I love both of them!
Both places were wonderful! I'd love someone to come in and do something to my little place. The first guy had a few things he wanted to keep. I couldn't get rid of anything I have, I'd want to keep it all! No, I can't get rid of that, my late 50's early 60's blond end table with the 1963 TV GUIDE with Fred MacMurray on it and that unopened pack of Lucky Strikes, no way! Not Bombo, the 50's tin litho windup toy monkey that hangs in a palm tree and when you wind him, he does flips, nope. My list of "things" to keep would be endless, as you can imagine. Seriously, that Designer did a wonderful job on both places. Those bachelors were privileged to have him do their places. They're both really nice, Thanks for sharing. I love houzz.
Love both apartments! Not sure about the bright white cabinetry in the second apartment, it seems to blare out against the dark walls. The best part of the designs is how the designer really wanted to make their homes about them, not just his personal ideas and taste. Bravo!
What great places to call home. Would like to know where the wall mirror in Dustin's home came from.
Love how he used so much black in these spaces! Stunning! Not sure exactly why people are so afraid of bold rich colors? Very rich and dramatic. Well done Anthony!!
Wow! Both good examples of incorporating owner's personalities; I especially like the highlighting of the military momentous of service to our country that represent an important part of the owner's life history, of which he is deservedly proud.
Love the masculinity and coziness.
These are fantastic designs successfully reflecting the homeowners' unique personalities, life experiences and aesthetics! And, based on the comments I have read, many are as impressed as I am... Raisa
I love both places!
Both unique to the owners and so well done! The furnishings truly reflect the people, not a theme, what design should be.
Bachelor, schmachelor! I'm a married woman and I would gladly live in either one of these homes. Beautiful, Anthony!!!!
Okay I won't use wow! because everybody else has, but, yeah, wow!
Wonderful work Anthony! Both places are incredibly beautiful and perfect for these two handsome men.
Awesome! love the black and white horizontal stripes!
Fantastic! Please provide more videos like this one. I love the modern farmhouse look.
Can anyone help me track down these boxer art prints? I must have these in my life! Thanks!
It made me feel warm and comfortable relaxing
I need help with my place!
I'm not sure why I get the sense that Andrew's military career might not be what he currently does... what a very strange thing for me to mention, but he must love to talk story about it because anyone coming in would be sparked into numerous fun topics on it. In any case, thank you Andrew, for your service and devotion to our country. I like so much about both B. pads. Comfy, manly and worldly. The Diver Dan bar and the card prints made of cards are so intriguing and add a lot of personality to Dustin's space. Anthony M. is marvelous.
The first story really hit home for me. I had the builder-safe design in my condo and turned it into a bachelor pad with a nice "Wow!" factor. You do have to take risks and hiring a designer is so important. I cannot tell you how good it feels to come home every single day to a place you love and feels so great.
For anyone on the ropes deciding just do it. Go for it and make something that feels good and reflects you, at least within your budget. It truly feels amazing, is worth the money and I think would come back to you on any resale.
I love the bold art choices made by this designer. Both places are absolutely amazing.
These are both absolutely sensational. Every man should see this so that they know 'design' is not a dirty word.
These are real homes where the personalities of the owners have been respected and the trust given to the designer and his team have been trusted.
They are both sensational spaces. Love them.
Had to view a second time. Just incredible. Amazing designs. What a team...Bravo!
Where can I buy the picture frames on Dustin's closet door?
@christine201: Ask your question in the Q&A and you are more apt to get an answer from the designer. Here's the link............. Look to the right where is says "Ask a question" and click on that.
I just watched this for probably the sixth time. Here is what strikes me compared to many of the photos in Houzz. These places are bold and lively. Look at the rooms carefully especially in the second home. There are lots of accent colors that are complimentary, lively and yet don't tire you out. What I notice is that these really look like places you would live, not just staged for photos or resale. It takes real genius to blend all the things Anthony did for these two guys and make it feel pleasing, alive and dramatic. I see places like this and I think of people with strong tastes, personalities and style. I really appreciate the genius and expertise of the designers and the guys brave enough to work with him.
Great story, loved it and the projects are super amazing.
WOW Best video I've seen on Houzz. Thanks for including some "guy"centric design. It is great to actually look at a designer reflecting two different people and styles in a single video.
Interesting: I wonder how these very distinctive designs work over a person's lifecycle and through life transitions, such as in a move into a new place, marriage when a spouse needs to move her things in, or when one has children. Do some designs lose practicality and longevity? Do some design require constant upkeep and less actual living. While having a bachelor pad design like these may be nice to have and make bold personal statements, I've noticed on my house hunting trips to staged houses, the interior designs are over-the-top beautiful- a statement piece- but not practical. For instance, how many of us really put books on shelves backward to create a cohesive look. How does decorating furnishings with many art/exhibit pieces interfere with practical/everyday pieces. This video raised some new questions for me.
So many design ideas here. The use of paint was very helpful to show what paint can "do" to create areas and atmosphere in each space. Beginning with the items each man had and wanted incorporated inspired the work. Both men had good taste, too. Anthony Michael created welcoming comfortable and textural spaces without a cluttered feeling. Though there will be a lot of dusting needed for the man who had clothes and hats displayed. His use of photos proportioned to fit each given area was both meaningful and delightful. Photos on the closet doors and the abstract deployment photo across from the bed helped me see black and white photos used artistically. What a gifted designer Mr. Michael is, this video was wonderful. I hope Houzz will do more videos with him if he is willing to share more of his work.
Prefer the first one. As you say that each was done for the personality of each man. Would have been nice to see before photos
wow
