See Designer Martha O’Hara’s Fresh Transitional-Style Home
In this episode of Houzz TV Live, interior designer Martha O’Hara takes viewers inside her Minneapolis home. O’Hara has been on Houzz for nearly a decade, and photos of her projects have been saved to ideabooks more than 1 million times. She’s known for fresh, stylish interiors, and her own home is no exception. O’Hara discusses how she created bright, modern-day interiors while honoring the roots of her 1922 home with detailed molding and millwork. O’Hara also finds clever ways to integrate modern convenience with old-world style. In the living room, a portion of a built-in bookcase rotates to reveal a hidden 54-inch TV. In the kitchen, a marble countertop on the island can be heated with the push of a button.
I love Martha O'Hara's work. She is one of the first interior designers I followed on Houzz.
I enjoyed seeing the tour of her beautiful home.
What an amazingly gorgeous house!
I just love everything about this house! Can you please tell me were the kitchen table was made?
Lovely insert. She explains everything beautifully about how all the design features fit in and what the process was. And through that one is reminded of what to consider when working with older properties. There are many grand elements and I love that it looks like a home and not a showpiece.
Really enjoyed that, what a pleasant woman and beautiful home!
What a gorgeous home! I love her style. Just beautiful.
Love this. Can she share what color white she painted the house.
Love this kitchen, I agree with her about any handle that has a "wing"! I've ruined many a crocheted sweater on these! I'll never use them again either! Great video, Martha is so fun to listen too!
Gorgeous architecture and incredible attention to detail and the combination of traditional current. Love everything about it!
Gorgeous!! Elegant but still still very livable. Thank you for the tour!
She has a such a lovely home. She’s made it elegant yet very livable. I enjoyed the interview and peak into her home.
Gorgeous home, may I ask the hand chair in the living room where I may purchase one, Thank you
Love the interior and beautiful tour, thank you. Can I get the name of those 2 white kitchen stools? Love the leg design....
I love the kitchen and the decor in the family room! How about another video on the upstairs?
Fascinating discussion, especially because my home was built in the 1920's as well and had this beautiful millwork. There are elements I can appreciate but might choose differently---like a silk rug on the floor of the dining room.....but gosh. All in all, a lovely discussion about a lovely home.
absolutely beautiful!
What a gorgeous home and wonderful interview. Thanks for sharing your home with us, Martha.
Love the home and thoughtful details. Beautiful touches!
Martha O'Hara designed vignettes are stunning and I always have to revisit them for another peek to admire. It was fun to see an entire house designed by her. I got a kick out of the intentional brushstrokes for the last coat of paint on the island, just when the painters thought they had created their perfect spray job! Her very approachable and down to earth manner comes through on the House video tour. That kind of thing is never apparent in photos and print.
above comment was auto corrected from Houzz to House. Could someone tell me how to kick autocorrect out of my devices? I don't need it and it is SO frustrating ...
Finally a designer who recognizes the damage sharp points on drawer and cabinet hardware can do! Simple C or D shaped handles or maybe rounded knobs are best. Not only tearing pockets (I lost an apron to this), handles with sharp points can be dangerous to children and bruising to anyone of any height.
Tarmac, it was White Dove , Benjamin Moore color
Such lovely character home!
What a beautiful home, with lovely, tasteful furnishings! Absolutely love all the built ins, and the original mill work!! :)
I love your approach, Martha. You admit when something is "over the top" but balance things with down-to-earth add-ins that create a very warm and elegant home. Really enjoyed your presentation and would love to learn more from your projects as well. Yin and Yang! Very relevant and striking!
I think this is my favorite home ever.
What a beautiful home with fabulous use and practicality of space! The kitchen was yummy and I would love to know what color of blue the island was painted.
Can you share the blue color on the island. So pretty with all the white!
I love this home! What was the name of the chandelier in the dining room where the interview was conducted?
Wow! understated beautiful. Love the way she explained every space. I need her communication skills. Awesome job!
Beautiful
Love the high quality throughout. Also wondering what window manufacturer they used?
Lovely home, the two sofas in the living room are just what I am looking for. I know Martha said she had them for several years, but can you tell me who the manufacturer is?
I love this house! I just started following Martha today and I think she is so talented!
Just beautiful !!! many thanks for sharing.
Beautiful home, love how much detail went into preserving the 1920’s charm.
Awesome ✨
Lovely. Great taste. Can you share if any tint was used on the cabinets or is it just the paint
Stunning
Where did they get the bar stools
Beautiful home! Love the bookcase with the tv. Great idea
Wow love her designs and her personality ✨
