Tour a Contemporary London Home Full of Light and Garden Views
When the owners of this Victorian home in south London asked architect Francesco Pierazzi to help them gain extra space without spending a fortune, he immediately got to work researching the area for opportunities. He looked through maps and photography and found there had previously been a lean-to construction attached to the building, which meant a full-width addition would be permitted. His clients were so happy with his plans that they asked him to help with the rest of their house renovation.
The ground floor of this home has now been transformed into a modern, open-plan space, with garden views as soon as you walk through the front door. A modern staircase with glass risers leads to the second floor, where two rooms have been opened up to create a large bedroom, dressing room and en suite for the couple.
Brilliant!
Beautiful reformation on a home!
Wow! Amazing transformation!
I loved the open, warmness of this space, with the garden always beckoning.
This is beautiful, love the use of colour.
I've seen this before, it's absolutely incredible. It is a total design inspiration.
Francesco Pierazzi has certainly turned this around. The light and space that he has brought into an old property is amazing. The continuity of materials and repetition plays a big role in this house. I love the strong colour on what could be quite an ugly beam, but it looks beautiful and stands out - strong and proud and does the job it is intended to do. The wall in the bedroom allows more light into the space and it looks like the sun could come streaming in. What a beautiful wake up call. I love the use of glass on the stairs because you can see right through to the garden and physically it stops dust travelling through onto an area which is constantly in use. The raised platform in the main living room gives it a layered and interesting look. I like the neutral walls for the time being. Seeing the garden from the house gives it a sense of - there is more here and your thoughts don't just stop at the kitchen wall, but go on and on ....and on...... Beautiful. Calm. Interesting and inspiring.
