(Addition) Blah Turns Into a Wow!

The family living in this 1950s home wanted an inviting exterior front entry, a large family room that was separate from the main eating area, and an additional bedroom. Moving the entry from the side to the front of the house and adding a craftsman-style gable roof, stone and cedar accents and fluted columns provided the defined and inviting entrance the family desired and substantially increased this home’s curb appeal. The original entry opened directly into a cluttered area that was used as both an eating area and a family room. By removing the home's entry door from the dining room and adding 3 windows (high enough to obscure the view of the adjacent house) a private dining area was created. A 400 sq foot addition provided space for a separate family room (complete with built-in home theatre system and gas fireplace) and an additional bedroom for the family’s little girl.
