(Remodel - Custom) Waterfront Views Maximized
This water-front townhome had incredible lake views but the interior walls obstructed the homeowners’ ability to truly enjoy a 180 degree view. After reviewing the townhome plans, it was determined that a beam (plus a post) would be needed if the wall between the kitchen and living room were to be removed. By adding stone to the post (the same stone that was added to the new fireplace surround), this structural element was transformed into an architectural feature that seamlessly blends in with the new design. In the living room, the small window was replaced with a floor to ceiling window to maximize the view. Additionally, an old grey smoked multi-panel mirror was replaced with a full clear mirrored wall, giving the illusion of a larger space. While the existing kitchen footprint and layout remained the same, the removal of the wall made the space feel light an airy. The outdated finishes were replaced with rich wood and stone elements giving this kitchen a luxurious feel. Because the kitchen was now open to the other living areas, the homeowner preferred the appliances blend in with the cabinetry so panels were added to the refrigerator and dishwasher and a custom wood hood was added above the cook-top. On the main level a guest bathroom was also updated.
