(Addition) Higher Ceilings & More Features
The existing home’s kitchen was compartmentalized and outdated. The small eating nook adjacent to the kitchen was rarely used and separated the kitchen from the existing undersized family room. The home’s master bathroom was also outdated and non-functional with only a single sink vanity and an acrylic tub/shower unit. The homeowners wanted to open the kitchen space to the dining area on one end to take advantage of the peek-a-boo lake views while adding approx. 184 sq. feet the opposite side to create a large great room design. The homeowners wanted ample access from the family room to their back-yard consequently 3 sets of French doors were incorporated into the design. To ensure a consistent finished floor height throughout required special attention because the existing family room space had previously been converted from an old garage (with floor joists built over the top of a garage slab in some areas and not in others). Additionally, the homeowner’s desired a combination of luxury vinyl floor tiles and solid hardwood flooring that further added to the calculations needed. The homeowners sought a light and airy feel for the new family room hence a large vaulted ceiling was added along with high windows. Updated finishes with colors inspired by mother-nature help blend the new spaces in with the existing style of the home while providing a more modern cohesive look throughout. Professional grade appliances, strategically placed to keep the kitchen open on both ends, ensure the homeowner’s cooking and entertaining needs are met. In the master bathroom, a complete reconfiguration allowed space for a double vanity and a spacious tiled shower with a zero threshold entry/infinity drain, double shower heads and a steam shower. The new space seamlessly blends in with the existing home while providing the added space, improved flow and updated finishes the homeowners desired.
