(Remodel - Custom) High-Tech Kitchen & Great Room
The existing kitchen was outdated and cramped. Due to a load bearing wall separating it from the living room and dining room, the kitchen felt closed off and isolated. To further add to the awkward layout of the space, the living room was sunken, requiring guests to go down stairs to access it from the dining room or kitchen. The homeowners desired an open floor-plan that was family friendly and suitable for entertaining. By removing a load bearing wall and installing structural beams, an open concept kitchen/great room design was made possible. Features include an automated TV elevator, the latest in entertainment/sound systems, a wine dispenser, a wine fridge and an automated ceiling island hood. Unique modern accents complete this breathtaking remodel with a glass bead and ribbon flame fireplace, unique kitchen cabinet storage ideas, a floor to ceiling ledge-stone fireplace surround, and a stunning metallic/glass tiled wall. In order to achieve the open floor-plan the homeowners desired, a load bearing wall was removed and structural beams were installed. In order to create a cohesive feel to the space, the sunken living room floor height was raised to match the adjoining dining and kitchen spaces. The family required substantial refrigerator and freezer space but did not want to overwhelm the kitchen with stainless front appliances. Instead, a panel ready refrigerator and 2 different sets of panel ready refrigerator and freezer drawers were installed that seamlessly blended into the kitchen with their cabinet panel overlays. In the living room the homeowners desired a specific modern ribbon style fireplace that was elevated off the floor and wanted to locate their TV above the unit. Our design incorporated a TV elevator which allows the homeowners to raise and lower the TV as needed to maintain the appropriate height away from the fireplace when not in use. Additionally, the homeowners requested an automated island hood vent that lowers into place when in use. The homeowners are wine connoisseurs and enjoy the wine dispenser and wine refrigerator. Their new kitchen is perfect for enjoying a nice glass of wine.
