(Custom Home) Craftsman the True Northwest

After inheriting her father's 1951, 1884 sq. ft. home (which was also her childhood home) it was extremely important to this homeowner to build her dream home on this property. She wanted to build a home that she felt her father would be proud of and one that stayed true to the craftsman style of the surrounding neighborhood homes. Of high priority in the new 3900 sq. ft. design was a large basement for storage (1165 sq. ft.), oversized garage doors and large interior garage with upper level storage, a master on the main floor, a large family room open to the kitchen and back deck, a formal dining room, an office near the front of the home (that could also double as a guest room if needed), a centrally located powder room that still maintains privacy, an upstairs bedroom and craft room that could take advantage of the lake views in the front of the home and an upstairs bonus room for watching TV and exercising that would overlook the spacious back yard. The homeowners desired a Craftsman interior and exterior design with natural materials, colors inspired by the Pacific Northwest environment and traditional detailing. The two story fireplace wall in the family room, with built in entertainment center on one side and a display area on the other is a prime example of the warm, yet open concept the homeowners envisioned. They selected a more neutral color palette for the permanent fixtures in the home and seasonally rotate furnishings, art and accessories to provide splashes of color throughout the year.
