(Remodel - Custom) Puget Sound View Never Gets Old
Back in the 60s, when this home was built, the kitchen was something that homeowners wanted to hide from their guests. This home’s existing design hid the kitchen in-between the dining room and living room making a disjointed layout and blocking the amazing Puget Sound views. The current homeowners wanted to maximize the 180 degree water view and embrace the open layout concept. By removing walls, adding beams and re-arranging the floorplan (the existing laundry/powder/family room became the new kitchen space, the existing kitchen became the dining room, the existing dining room became a sitting area and the existing living room became the family room) all common spaces had an unobstructed view. Small windows and standard sliding glass doors were replaced with oversized windows and large multi-panel sliding glass doors to maximize the view, the light and the access to the exterior deck. A custom mural of the Olympic mountain range view was painted above the glass openings. The kitchen is set-up for large scale entertaining with its vast island space, separate bar area, and luxury appliances. The old entry to the home opened to a green faux fireplace stone that divided the living room from the entry hallway and ran nearly the length of the entire entryway. In the new design, a double sided fireplace was added and the new stone surround length was shortened. A gallery style shelf design was added in the living room providing a focal point on one of the few walls in the new space. On the bedroom side of the home, the fourth bedroom was converted into a master closet, the space from the existing master bedroom was used to increase the size of the master bathroom which was reconfigured to take advantage of the views and provide for a larger guest bathroom.
