(Addition) For the Gourmet Chefs
This 1970s kitchen was outdated and ill-suited for modern family life. As in many homes of this vintage, the kitchen was small, compartmentalized and dark. Of particular importance in the new design was an open floor-plan concept that would support both food preparation and large group entertaining while making the kitchen the central gathering point for the family. With the addition of 220 sq ft a complete redesign of the space was possible. Special attention was paid to incorporating the natural lush green landscape and bringing in the natural ambient light by adding three large skylights, a glass door to access the new IPE deck and new floor to ceiling windows. Additional focus was paid to the interior lighting plan which included special soffit linear lighting fixtures, focal point adjustable angled ceiling lights, sleek pendants and special lighting control options. The warmth of the cherry cabinets and Swedish finish oak floors give balance to the sleek stainless steel scullery sink, custom stainless steel bar with blade sanctions, the metallic Amethyst bullet backsplash tile, and the linear cabinet pulls ensuring the space radiates contemporary styling without feeling cold and industrial. Updates were also made to the adjacent dining room space to accommodate the addition and update the wet bar.
