Black Earth Vacation Home and Studio

This compact home near Black Earth, Wisconsin was designed as a country getaway and studio. The upper level consists of a kitchenette, bathroom, living/sleeping area and studio for framing art. The lower level consists of a garage, mechanical space and storage. The home is bermed into the side of the hill on the sloping wooded site. The south side has a raised deck accessed by two pairs of sliding doors. The north side has views of a prominent bluff on the property.
Scissor trusses were used to create a vaulted ceiling over the main spaces. The kitchenette and bath have flat ceilings to define those spaces.
