There was much to love about this home but while the existing kitchen floor plan worked for the clients, the all original 1958 kitchen finishes did not. Their remodel wish list hinged on keeping the character of the Mid-Century Modern architecture and to provide functional space for their frequent large gatherings while entertaining.
Graphite stainless steel paneled refrigerator and freezer columns are precisely fitted between a pantry cabinet and recessed wine rack. The peninsula opposite of the range creates a convenient cooking lane and houses the stacked
microwave and warming drawer that puts everything within the chef’s reach while
separating guests with seating opposite of the butcher block countertop. The prep, serve and cleanup area features The Galley workstation sink. Rich-textured wood tones and strategically placed matte and high-gloss finishes add layers of
contrast to the kitchen while blending with the adjacent Family Room finishes of a stacked slate fireplace.
The wet-bar features a high-gloss waterfall counter with mirrored walls that reflect the great views. Our design and construction team was able to surpass the clients’ expectations in bringing this Mid-Century Modern home into the 21st century.
