Transitional - Dedham Residence
An existing kitchen and cluster of antique pantries and serving rooms are transformed into a large family room, kitchen, and breakfast room space. New wood columns and beams define the individual spaces and functions yet allow the advantages of modern open-plan living. The breakfast area bulges out of the house with a graceful curved glass window.
The new French doors allow access to the stone landing and down to the new walled rose garden. The new leaded panes in the upper windows give the space an intimate character while allowing large vision windows to take advantage of the views. The goal was to provide an intimate family daily living space which is also generous enough for large scale entertaining.
