Nederland North Watch

Imagine a mountain home that faces north but feels warm and inviting all year. Northwatch in Black Hawk captures Colorado's Rocky views with smart design that keeps summers cool and winters cozy, turning a challenging slope into a stunning retreat.

Our clients wanted a home that embraced the north-facing site's cool perks while adding efficiency and ease. They envisioned a tunnel to connect the garage and guest space, radiant heating without AC, and rooms that flow for family gatherings and mountain living.

North orientations can mean more heating needs, but we used floor warmth and fresh breezes to cut costs and boost comfort. Winter snow? The underground tunnel makes getting around simple and dry, solving access woes in style.

The core idea? Bold overhangs and cantilevers that frame epic views. Concrete bases add texture and strength, while wood and steel create flexible, dramatic spaces that feel grounded in the mountains.

Built with wood framing and steel for those impressive extensions, everything's designed for durability. Radiant heating covers the main house and guest unit efficiently, using materials that stand up to Rocky weather without extra upkeep.

The main floor has two bedrooms with a view-filled master, plus a floating fireplace that separates living from kitchen for easy hosting. The guest ADU is like a cozy apartment with its own setup, and the basement offers more space with outdoor access via the tunnel.

Since Spring 2024, Northwatch has been a perfect mountain haven, blending efficiency, views, and comfort. It's a home that adapts to life in the Rockies, offering peace, warmth, and inspiration for years of memorable moments.
