The increased demand for premium cookware during the 1990's set in motion HORT Coating Center's research for an advanced nonstick coating. Initially, HORT began searching for ways to improve their pre-existing titanium-reinforced coating. During that time, finely-ground titanium was considered the best choice for reinforcing nonstick cookware surfaces. However, HORT soon realized that a different reinforcement material would bring additional advantages. The main criteria for improvement? Extreme hardness and excellent thermal conductivity, which led us straight to diamonds.
