The Slack Dust Mop Company was started by Alexander P. Slack, who began in 1909 with a piece of copper wire that held wool rags and was used as a dry mop. He ended up with a patent for his coiled wire mop holder, which he and his four sons sold door to door. Today, his great grandson continues the fourth generation of the Slack Mop business in rural Vermont. Each mop head is made one at a time by hand using multi-colored wool carpet yarn, sourced from mills in South Carolina and Georgia. We source all our materials in the United States and the mops and dusters are handmade in Woodstock, Vermont. Wool dry mops are pet friendly because no chemicals are needed or used. They are long lasting and can be removed from the frame for hand-washing and air-drying.
