Having a fantastic location on a sloping block overlooking the sea, our client came to use to design a sustainable and easy to maintain holiday house where all the extended family and grand kids can congregate.

The design was challenging as the council has a vegetation overlay, and the block is very steep. We design the lower storey to be semi-earthbermed, and carved out a north facing thermally massive family den in that space. Whilst the sloping site does produce difficulty in overlooking issues, the block slopes down to the sea and the solar access on the north, and we created an entertaining deck that allows sunlight access to the living areas as well as allowing unimpeded coastal views. The result is two level of idyllic coastal living, where multiple generations can enjoy.
