Mid-Century Modern
We were contacted by the Owners 10 years earlier with inquiries about remodeling their home located on Stanford University lands. After a considerable amount of planning, dreaming and contemplative what-if scenarios, they reconnected with us to start their project.
Their original home reflected some of the Eichler-esque architectural features, but didn't fully deliver on the open, modern-day living envisioned at that time. The Owner understood the original design intent and wanted to fully realize it with a complete remodel (interior /exterior) and add a second floor.
Embracing the mid-century modern design ethos of minimalism and urban aesthetic, we embarked on an adventure. Their home backed up to "open space" with views of the Stanford Hills beyond. Taking our cue from the site, we created visual layers that were introduced to anyone entering the house: clean, bright, spacious living spaces give way to the outdoor deck and pool, which then give way to the open space and hills beyond. The best view however, is reserved for the Owner from their terrace which is located off their second floor master suite.
