Peaks Island Modern

A middle-aged couple, with an eye for design, bought a small plot on the island and were looking for a simple, budget conscious, but modern home to retire to.

As homebodies who like to cook the living/kitchen space was very important. They also wanted the deck/hot tub to be an extension of the master bedroom with a spa-like feel. Because they love to host friends or family for long weekends, the guest suite (that also serves as a home office) needed to feel private and separate even in the small square footage. Once on the island the primary form of transportation are bicycles and the occasional use of the "island car," so emphasis was placed on bike storage instead of car storage. The result is a bright, easy to maintain, thoughtfully designed, 1200 sq ft home, perfect for two people who spend most of their days on the island.
