So here we have some extra headaches due to falling leaves.

We did a big cleanup of the overgrown plants and weeds in our big flower beds, front and back of the house. Lovely, we could see the black earth.

Then my husband added red cedar much everywhere and that looked gorgeous for a few days.

But now the deciduous trees in and surrounding our back & front yards are dropping their leaves all over the mulch. If we rake, the mulch get raked along with the leaves. If we use a leaf blower, the mulch also gets blown around.

What in blazes are we to do? It looks godawful now and will be worse as the fall progresses and then after 5-6 months of snow, when spring comes, those leaves will be like cement. Are we doomed to keep adding mulch every year to cover this up? Maybe, but not happy about it. We're not young any more and it was rather a back breaking job for my husband to do.

Some of the items don't apply as we live on the Gulf, but I'm happy that our gutters are clean, carpet has been steam cleaned, fall textiles have been placed around the house, and our few pumpkins are out. I'm inspired to go cut local fall branches and pick up some pomegranates.

Fall is the perdpfect time to right what you found lacking in your garden. Living in the Pacific Northwest, I adore a few redesign gardening projects. Love the cooles temperaturen and the moister conditions. I consider the garden more fulfilling to work with than the house. Different type of maintenance.
