No, if you want hardwoods in the bedrooms, then you need to match what you have in the hallway. Otherwise, there is a great disconnect between the rooms and the hall. Especially since the color, size of the planks and finish are not the same.

Let me reword my comment:

I would look to another type of floor in this situation. The two woods are so different from each other that it would be hard to get them to shake hands and play nice. If you REALLY want this particular off-white wood in your bedroom there is one way to do it: completely sand and refinish your maple to get it back down to "natural".

That would be the only way I can see these two floors getting along. It looks like you are trying to replace "off-white" with a matching "off-white". Feel free to step out side your comfort zone.

Think of this as a chance to change up the "boring ol' routine". A cork floor in off-white will offer the same look as your carpet/choice of wood without clashing with your maple like another wood floor will.

I will say no to the two woods. If the original floor must stay, find something else, like cork, in the same tone. Cork is warm,soft and quiet and you might find it a good solution.

i have the same deliema, but mine is does the hallway have to match the main bathroom off the hallway

I'm curious if you went through with it. I just did it. I have wood looking laminate..grey and white and just did the master bath in greyish beige...it's looks fine to me

I'm in the same boat here. I think we need to bite the bullet and replace all the flooring in the house.
