My client was moving from a 5,000 sq ft home into a 1,365 sq ft townhouse. She wanted a clean palate and room for entertaining. The main living space on the first floor has 5 sitting areas, three are shown here. She travels a lot and wanted her art work to be showcased. We kept the overall color scheme black and white to help give the space a modern loft/ art gallery feel. the result was clean and modern without feeling cold. Randal Perry Photography

An amazing architectural space with floor to ceiling, wall to wall windows, providing incredible light to this penthouse in the heart of Tribeca.
With the designer’s instinctive implementation of Feng Shui in all of her designs, she incorporated fundamental Feng Shui principles, the five natural elements and the concept of yin and yang to create the lay out that would bring in the perfect energy flow.
Beautiful wood floorings, numerous light sources, clean lines, combination of straight and curvy shapes, vibrant colors, metal, white and glass pieces and modern art pieces create an interesting gallery which gives this space its unique “eclat”

Staging of a long and narrow living room- whether you are decorating to live or staging to sell, here are some tips for decorating an awkward space such as this one.
•Break up the space into two areas. Here we have a cozy sitting area anchored by a textural rug as well as another area near the fireplace with built-in benches and pillows. We used the owners beautiful chess set to “set the stage” and suggest that this is a valuable place for a cozy game or place to chat, enjoying the wonderful fireplace.
•Play up the fireplace and make it a dramatic focal point in the room. Using an interesting round mirror with an antiqued finish over the fireplace and drawing the eye with a large plant gave this room some “wow factor”
•Using an oval coffee table helps to smoothly route traffic through this small space and the glass top helps to minimize it’s bulk visually.
•A stack of beautiful books invite an afternoon curled up on the couch reading and enjoying a serene space away from the busier rooms of the house.
Hope these tips help you solve some of your decorating challenges!

In this combination living room/ family room, form vs function is at it's best.. Formal enough to host a cocktail party, and comfortable enough to host a football game. The wrap around sectional accommodates 5-6 people and the oversized ottoman has room enough for everyone to put their feet up! The high back, stylized wing chair offers comfort and a lamp for reading. Decorative accessories are placed in the custom built bookcases freeing table top space for drinks, books, etc. Magazines and current reading are neatly placed in the rattan tray for easy access. The overall neutral color palette is punctuated by soft shades of blue around the room.

JDG undertook a complete transformation of this family residence, taking it from bleak to chic. The space marries custom furnishings, fabulous art and vintage pieces, showcasing them against graphic pops of pattern and color.
