Bluestar Landscape Designers
Edible Garden Companies in Chicago Park
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsJanuary 12, 2018
“Owner Cathie Tritel is very knowledgeable of plant, flower and tree placement in relation to sunrise/sunset orientation of homeowner's yard. Her project drawings are extremely detailed, leaving no room for speculation by the landscape contractor she selects. She also is exceptionally good at balancing design and color of all hardscape elements like Roman stamped concrete, seatwall, raised garden, flower pots, lighting, etc. with shrub, trees and flower placements. Result for us was a well-balanced and aesthetically pleasing yard. She also is good at keeping the landscape contractor on schedule and ensuring all work meets her high quality standards. She even took the time to teach us yard care basics like pruning and proper watering. We are extremely glad we selected Bluestar to do our backyard makeover! Even though it's winter, flowers are blooming now!”
Michael Glassman & Associates

Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsAugust 2, 2012
“Michael is a master! Not only is he a creative designer with an amazing aesthetic, but he created a very functional space that I use every day. My family and friends will always choose my backyard for dining above any restaurant because the beauty and tranquility of my outdoor space creates the best kind of mood for social gatherings. My landscaping is gorgeous and easy to maintain. My backyard is now an extra room in my home, an annuity that I did not consider when I first started planning to re-design my yard. I am so glad that I hired Michael to design my yard because he solved all the problems of the previous landscaping: I now have excellent drainage, complete privacy, a water feature that eliminates any traffic noise, and shade that makes my south facing yard habitable, even in the middle of the day. My yard and budget were modest, but Michael worked with me to find the right balance between investment and affordability.”
Executive Care Inc.

Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsFebruary 5, 2020
“Best service provider of all I have used, including, but not limited to landscape services. Executive Care builds a relationship with the customer, does not just do the job. Works to understand priorities and needs; listens to suggestions. My property is about one acre. Executive Care has done reasonably extensive re-landscaping to four areas. Total cost ~$70K over three years, 2016-2018. I now use them for annual maintenance. Highly recommend!”

“We commissioned Sheri to assist us with a complicated deck design project. We are extremely pleased with the final design. Sheri possesses a rare combination of attributes that bolster reassurance and fortify confidence in her abilities. Her observation and communication skills are superb. In addition to integrating our ideas into the conceptual design she worked collaboratively with both engineers to ensure our project would be in compliance with local codes and pass permitting. She has an eye for aesthetic form coupled with strong creative abilities. Also, She is detailed oriented with a pragmatic bent She offers a full suite of services, including CAD. I could go on, but, in summary, You can;t go wrong with Sheri. .”

“Jonathan did a great landscape re-design for us. Working around the hard-scape that existed and incorporating our ideas along with his expertise and knowledge, he created a plan that was sensible, practical, and beautiful. The plan included several native and drought resistant plants in a challenging shaded yard. We are really happy with the results. Dave & Katherine”
Amber Hildebrand Landscape Architecture

Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsAugust 4, 2017
“Amber has a great ability to visualize space and utilize materials and plants as her palette. She was able to maximize my backyard and front-yard in ways I had not envisioned, turning them into beautiful outdoor living areas where I could socialize and enjoy the Napa Valley weather, wine and company. My house tends to be the gathering place for neighbors and has become the topic of conversation with guests. I have referred her to many of my good friends and she has actually designed quite a few of their spaces as well. She is easy to work with, communicative and an artist in her field.”

“I was most impressed with Karin's design of our property. She visited early, before building, & determined that the prevailing westerly wind would be very uncomfortable in our planned back yard & pool area. She suggested turning the house plan around to create a sheltered area & also added a fireplace. It has worked out wonderfully. She also reoriented the pool & designed a pergola at the end, which makes a great focal point.”

“Donna is professional and creative, She has transformed more than one of our backyards over the years. Both yards were very different in size and challenges. Donna's ability to design from a blank canvas or redesign an existing area is amazing!”

“Sophie has an excellent eye and knows how to make a yard look not only beautiful but pulled together. When I came to her for a design for our backyard to go with our new pool, I had a lot of ideas. Probably too many. In fact, I'm sure it was too many. Hey, I know what I want. Sophie listened to me and incorporated my ideas into the final design so that it feels like it was my idea--only better. I don't know anything about plants or what will grow where, but that didn't matter because I had Sophie right there. Every plant type, ground cover and even placement of future hardscape features was well thought out. The yard is now inviting and the whole family enjoys spending time there. It's also a really nice backdrop out our kitchen window for days when we only get to look at it instead of hanging out there! Maybe that's the highest compliment a designer can get--when it's all done, it is more than what I expected. Actually, the best news is that our front yard needs attention and I don't have to think twice about who I am calling! Doug L.”

“I was faced with a piece of mostly barren steep land around my house in Tahoe. Because of the steep grade and a pedestrian bridge from the parking area to the house, the land was not really usable or accessible. I told Gianfranco my functional requirements: that I wanted to have a welcoming entrance, a way to get into the land from the bridge, and for it to look nice. And because I'm in the Tahoe Basin, we have very restrictive laws on total coverage, so most of what we do has to be water permeable, and mostly cement and mortar free. Gianfranco created for me a space that far exceeded my expectations, with gorgeous dry-stack stone terrace walls, decomposed granite walkways, as well as a creek with cascades and a pond that attracts lots of birds and frogs. He also added a beautiful private sitting area next to the pond, a face-lift for the bridge with new see-through cable railings, and stunning fine-masonry granite columns that welcome you to the space! Then he finished it off with fire-resistant deciduous trees around the house (forest fires are a big concern here), and a variety of low-maintenance and critter-resistant plantings that bear flowers and colorful fall foliage throughout the seasons. And, all of it was set up with automatic irrigation for easy maintenance. Then, Gianfranco has kept an eye on the garden as time went by, making sure the plants were getting the water they need from the irrigation, and making small adjustments as needed. In short, he transformed the front of my house from an ignored and unused area to an outdoor living space that I'm proud to invite guests into for a glass of wine and that gives my place huge curb appeal.”
