very cool. kind of sad, but kind of cool.

i was in my office last week, chatting on the phone with a colleague while looking out the window, when a HUGE dragonfly flew straight into window in front of me. BAM. i almost dropped the phone it was so loud. it turned around, and flew away as if nothing had happened. tough little bugs.

Who said gardeners live a boring life. Nothing happening in our yards. You ladies are right. It is a wild kingdom. I was watching,today,spiders capturing their diners. ugh!

Bet that dragonfly went home and told it's spouse, "Honey, you wouldn't believe it but a human tried to take my lunch away from me! Honestly, can't she get her own??"

Laura, that's a great photo. You know, I've never seen a dragonfly take down a butterfly before. I'm amazed. They are usually eating mosquitoes (in fact, we used to call them mosquito hawks) and other small insects. It never even occured to me they might go for a butterfly. I swear, I learn more stuff here! Thanks for sharing!
