I'm guessing you're going to do something with the countertops? Are you adding a backsplash?

You definitely need some new hardware and that's an easy fix. Also, is the stove new? Are you going with white or stainless? (I like white personally so no pressure to buy a new fridge.) I ask because of the exhaust fan. I think you need to paint it. You can spray it bronze to match the cabinets, white to match the fridge or I'm sure there is a suitable stainless look paint if that is your direction.

If you are going stainless, then think stainless knobs/handles. If you are going with white, you can do stainless or rustic metal/white ceramic. You need to think light, though, because they are currently just fading away into the dark wood.

I would paint the cabinets white and get a backsplash. Maybe butcher block counters.

Both sides under the cabinets. If you want modern you can paint the bottom cabinets a dark gray and the top white. Run your tile vertically instead of horizontal.

Ikea sells very affordable butcher block and if you are handy it's pretty easy to cut for your sink. Just remember to get the oil for it.
