Would same mirror work over this sofa instead. I was going to do a gallery wall here.

Hi tomard, am not a designer, but looking at the old mirror, I think it looks good there. If you do a gallery wall over the sofa, I would center the sofa on the rug (or center the rug under the sofa). A large painting would look good over the sofa...and not hung too high.

tomard *waving*.... can we talk about the teensy lamps first? If I come over and sit down and pick up a book to read, those lamps will be of no value. How are they working out for you? I am addressing the lamps you show next to the love seat.;)

Is there space on the dining area wall for the mirror? The colors there seem to be better with the mirror.

Maybe if you paint the mantel and mirror the same color

I like how the mirror rests on the mantle and is such a good fit with it. The colors of the mirror and the wall and the fireplace seem to fight, though.

Didn't read posts. My first reaction was that the mirror is meant to be in a bedroom, not a living room or other "public" area.

Thank you all for replying and for your advice! I will certainly consider changing the lamps for taller ones. They are very low all right. General feeling seems to be that mirror would be better same colour as the fireplace so I will think about that (it was originally that colour but I thought it looked very dark LOL). I might move it to my bedroom, I have a space where it might work. I will try centring the rug also. Lots to consider, I appreciate the comments everyone!
