This older couple residing in a golf course community wanted to expand their living space and finish up their unfinished basement for entertainment purposes and more.
Their wish list included: exercise room, full scale movie theater, fireplace area, guest bedroom, full size master bath suite style, full bar area, entertainment and pool table area, and tray ceiling.
After major concrete breaking and running ground plumbing, we used a dead corner of basement near staircase to tuck in bar area.
A dual entrance bathroom from guest bedroom and main entertainment area was placed on far wall to create a large uninterrupted main floor area. A custom barn door for closet gives extra floor space to guest bedroom.
New movie theater room with multi-level seating, sound panel walls, two rows of recliner seating, 120-inch screen, state of art A/V system, custom pattern carpeting, surround sound & in-speakers, custom molding and trim with fluted columns, custom mahogany theater doors.
The bar area includes copper panel ceiling and rope lighting inside tray area, wrapped around cherry cabinets and dark granite top, plenty of stools and decorated with glass backsplash and listed glass cabinets.
The main seating area includes a linear fireplace, covered with floor to ceiling ledger stone and an embedded television above it.
The new exercise room with two French doors, full mirror walls, a couple storage closets, and rubber floors provide a fully equipped home gym.
The unused space under staircase now includes a hidden bookcase for storage and A/V equipment.
New bathroom includes fully equipped body sprays, large corner shower, double vanities, and lots of other amenities.
Carefully selected trim work, crown molding, tray ceiling, wainscoting, wide plank engineered flooring, matching stairs, and railing, makes this basement remodel the jewel of this community.

Although this custom corner cabinet increased the floor space in this tiny bathroom, there still was not enough storage. Using a tall medicine cabinet in the corner added extra room for toiletries. Building a special mount for the light fixture provided good lighting for someone standing in front of the angled mirror. The room also features a dual-flush toilet, a Water Sense faucet, energy efficient lighting, recycled ceramic tile and non-toxic, no-VOC paint. The quartz, engineered stone countertop is certified for low toxic emissions.

These empty-nesters were looking to create a brighter and less cluttered kitchen for entertaining. The designer began with simplifying the space, while giving more storage solutions. An extra-long island was created to create a large base for entertaining. A separate bar was inserted for appetizers and drinks to generate a better flow within the kitchen. Finally, over-head and under-cabinet lighting was added to animate the space well into the night.

This narrow, open-concept space is given dimension and the illusion of depth by angling the leather sofa and creating a space within a space. Consider using a drop-leaf console table behind the sofa vs. a sofa table. It becomes a multi-purpose, functional piece of furniture, whether used as a desktop or another place to enjoy a bite to eat. Before the remodel, a large TV wall unit occupied the wall where the red wallclock hangs. Placing the TV in the corner, opened up this narrow space considerably.

This remodel involved changing a bay window to a smaller center French window allowing three times more storage and counter space. The cabinetry are Rutt Classic and many aspects I had custom made, the bow front 7 drawer, the barrel vaulted valance, the lambs tongue corner detail below the valance, three stage crown molding and a stainless lined appliance garage hidden in a un-used wall area. The counters are 6 cm natural quartz and the back splash is stacked stone with custom Status ceramic trimed niche behind the range. We also designed an entertainment amoire for the family space off the kitchen to house a TV and crafts.

The kitchen and bathrooms in this 20th-Century house in Lake Oswego were given an elegant update. The kitchen was made more spacious for entertaining friends and family. A corner of the space was extended to create more room for an expansive island, an entertainment bar, and storage. The look was completed with dainty pendants, a Taj Mahal quartzite natural stone countertop, and custom cabinets. The bathrooms are deeply relaxing spaces with light hues, a marble shower and floors, and abundant natural light.

This shaker style kitchen with an opaque lacquer finish shows a "L" shaped layout with an island. Storage space is the main concern in this room. Undeniably, the designer has focused on maximizing the amount of space available by having the cabinets installed up to the ceiling. An entire wall is dedicated to storage and kitchen organization. Glass doors with stainless steel framing bring lightness and refinement while reminding us of the appliances and hood’s finish. This kitchen has an eclectic style, but one that remains sober. The monochromatic color palette allows all components to be well integrated with each other and make this room an interesting and pleasant place to live in. Several classic elements like shaker doors and a "subway" style backsplash are diminished by the industrial aspect that bring the concrete island, the massive stainless steel hood and the black steel stools. Tiled windows remind us of the windows of largeMontreal’s factories in the early 30s, and therefore add to the more industrial look. The central element and a major focal point of this kitchen is unquestionably the concrete island. It gives this room a lot of texture and interest while remaining sober and harmonious. Black steel stools contribute to this urban and industrial aspect thanks to their minimalist and quaint design. A white porcelain farmhouse sink is integrated impeccably with the cabinets while remaining discreet. Its specific shape adds character to the kitchen of thisWestmount’s house, built in 1927. Finally, the wood floor just brightens up and warms the atmosphere by creating a sustained contrast with the rest of the kitchen. In the dining room, a gorgeous antique solid wood table is also warming up the space and the upholstered chairs add comfort and contribute to a comfortable and welcoming ambience.
Wow Great Place
This kitchen has two "dead" corners, so in one (opposite side of stove) we installed a lazy susan, and in this one corner, since we did not have the room to wrap around the corner under the window without compromising the sink cabinet, we decided to include a "magic corner" pull-out, which brings the contents of the deepest part of the cabinet out within reach!
