I have successfully rooted Poncirus cuttings (that is what is used as rootstock on most citrus I believe). They bear fruit but no one would want to eat it!

So you did grafting?

How about just rooting cuttings?

I read about the root/crown rot disease if not using root stock. I was just curious if in hobby world, there was success in growing trees from cuttings without grafting.

No I just did cuttings. And as I recall they were pretty easy.

I have rooted many CCPP budwood rootstocks. Success varies by variety, season, and process. Its only legal to use certified budwood in CA. Search YouTube for citrus rooting via Fruit Mentor... great info and some guidance.
