Thanks, a good resource for hardiness, which is also a concern. I don't see anything there about soil pH, though. Did I miss something? Info about that is more scarce, it seems.

Many of the individuals in the linked discussion are from those in the prairie regions, which from my understanding, very generally has alkaline soil. There are always exceptions though. Have you considered amending your soil?

I'd have to amend a lot of soil, and it would need to keep being done, so I'm not going to do that. I try to to keep things low maintenance. No blueberries for me here. Though maybe someday in pots ...

I decided to try Somerset and Reliance to start. They've been grown in the Rockies. I found them at WalMart, cheap, supposedly 2-year-old plants. But I probably won't know for a year or two if I got what I paid for. The first "Reliance" I got had a Flame Seedless tag on it when I took it out of the bag!

I have incredibly alkaline soil and my grapes are not suffering at all. I give them a plant spike of citrus fertilizer ( go figure, citrus!) every spring and add composted manure on top when I think of it.

I have Suffolk seedless, Sommerset, Trollhaugen and Vanessa. Granted they are in a summer greenhouse, but they are planted in the ground not a raised bed.
