Cannas? Do you live somewhere warm enough for them to overwinter in the ground?

It is a rhizome, I think, rather than a true bulb. Could be one of the hedychiums (I don't grow any myself so couldn't be sure) or indeed, canna.

in every post. tell us where you are .. big city name..

and then we can tell you if you need to store them inside for winter...or can plant them now to overwinter outside ..

i suspect the boy dug them up and divided them.. because he was going to store his in the house for winter... soooo.. if he lives near you.. that probably means you need to do the same ...

store them in a cool dry dark place.. like you might store potatoes all winter..
