Activity re May/June and July "Garden Highlights"

  • I see there were 64 posts for the May thread
  • 72 for the June thread
  • 146 (and counting for the July thread

So where would you expect a soon to be started August thread in terms of posts as compared to each of the previous 3 months?

GardenHo_MI_Z5your turn to start such a thread ;)

    I posted a picture evry day in July because I always had something new. That won't be the case in August unless people what to see the same plants I already posted. There will be some as they come into bloom - goldenrod, aster, false sunflower, ligularia, hibiscus - but not the ever changing variety of July.

    Even so it does seem that July is generally the highlight month for many of our gardens.

    Im not able to post pics on gardenweb any more, so I want to try uploading pics to gardenweb, but I cant find any instructions about how to do that. When I click on uploaded pics, a page comes up saying 'no uploaded pics', but there's

    nothing to click on to upload pics. Ive been complaining about this to houzz, but all they tell me is I need an updated version of chrome, but Im constantly getting updates for chrome.

    @Jay 6a Chicago. I download pictures from my google photos to my downloads space and then I upload from there. I'm also on Chrome.

    @a2zmom_Z6_NJ, I dont see any download space or anything else about how to go about downloading my photos, whether I click on -edit profile and settings' or 'your uploaded photos'. And there's no instructions when I click on 'your houzz' or 'your idea books'.

    @Jay 6a Chicago Downloading your photos has nothing to do with Houzz. Where do you store your photos? Just on your phone? Somewhere else? If on your phone, email them to ypurself. Open the email, hover over the photo and there will be a little arropw to download it. Click that. The photo will now be in your personal download directory. Now go to Houzz, click photo and it will point to your download directory and you can select the photo.

    @a2zmom_Z6_NJ, I thought I had to

    download pics to my profile. I have thousands of pics stored in my gallery. I tap 'Houzz Photo' and then I tap 'Browse' and my gallery shows up, but when I tap 'Add Photo' the photo doesn't get added.

    Jay, if you click photo, it will take you to your downloads; if you click Houzz photos, it will take you to the ideabooks within houzz. To use photos from ideabook, you will first need to create ideabooks and upload photos there. The reason why your photos uploaded directly from your downloads folder on your computer or phone do not show up after you have chosen them for adding to the post is that they may be a size too big for houzz. Thus issue is resolved via ideabooks at times because I think it tells you the pic is too big to upload when you are uploading on to the ideabook. Either way, the solution is to somehow reduce the size of your photos before uploading on houzz ideabook or directly in a post. I hope this helps.

    @getgoing100_7b_nj, thanks! I have a photo compresser and I compressed 4 photos, but they won't post, it seems I only have 1 nanosecond to select a pic or it's no go. I will try your ideabook suggestion later. If I click on a photo that I don't want to post, it works? I don't think Houzz likes me. Maybe if I buy one of their products they will fix it? I haven't downloaded the houzz app because I'm afraid they will put even more advertisements in the posts, but would it clear up my technical issues?🤔

    Jay, I have had zero Houzz purchases so far. I do use the app though on my android phone. I think it just might solve your problem.
