We live in south Louisiana. I have an attic fan in my house and don't usually have to turn the AC on until we are consistently in the 80's. Saves a lot of $$$. As long as the temps are below 77 at night we can sleep with just the fan. Of course that requires sleeping with the windows open and some locales are not conducive to that.

Were none of these regions inhabited by humans prior to the invention of a/c? I am all for comfort but not for living like a hothouse vegetable or battery chicken in an artificially controlled environment.
