Anyways MArgaret, the support must be narrow and it was right in the middle so you cannot see it in the image. it can be a cantilevered support attached to both ends. there can also be a vertical support underneath and are spaced accordingly. support can be made of concrete (if it touches the water) or metal.

How deep was the Koi Pond in this design?

What Houzz contributors are saying:

Mitchell Parker added this to How to Make a Pond
Advantages of Shallower PondsLess excavation means less work and fewer materials, so you’ll save money on construction costs and backaches.
Frank Organ added this to 8 Modern-Day Moats That Float Our Boats
Even in the simplest of gardens, a moat can be both practical and ornamental. This basic timber-decked drawbridge creates easy access over the moat, once again bringing echoes of the past.In medieval times a more peaceful use of the moat was to supply fish for the table. In this contemporary setting, ornamental fish now fill the moat, rather than carp or pike.
