Bath set (tub platform and vanity)
The desire to use eco-friendly materials led to the choice of bamboo for this Asian inspired bath. The heavy tops and leg elements were fabricated from engineered bamboo panels and the lighter textural elements were created by inserting bamboo strips into a finished plywood substrate. Special sealer and several coats of polyurethane ensure water resistance and long wear.
Dimensions for vanity: 6'0" x 1'8", however the sizes can be customized, additional charges apply. Sinks and faucets are not included in the price.
The large vanity, drawers and cabinets were also handcrafted from bamboo, and employ a different geometry to stimulate the senses.
The vision behind this beautifully designed master bathroom was to create a comfortable setting that would bring the peace of nature inside. Pocket doors open the bathroom to the scenic view of the estate, and natural materials were used to compliment the large 3x5 ft. frameless glass shower, and the big two-person oval hot tub. Light enters the bathroom through three windows; each bringing natural light in from the vaulted central atrium.
The tub platform was handcrafted from a thick bamboo, giving it a solid presence that is enhanced by the lighter effect of the skirt. The larger vanity, drawers and cabinets were also handcrafted from bamboo, and employ a different geometry to stimulate the senses. Custom crafted lights and windows were designed to create a sense of flow and cohesion.
Tile mosaics in the shower and on the floor also give the bathroom a natural, unique feel. Each individual tile in the shower was custom cut and polished for a more organic grout pattern, the split face travertine on the pedestals and backsplashes create an organic texture.

This penthouse was stripped to a raw concrete shell and the floor plan and plumbing were relocated to the clients desires. Materials are wood, stone and paint colors that were very muted and relaxed. The master bath features a stack Dakota blue limestone wall that was hand cut and laid. This material is not difficult to find and is labour intensive to finish. The master Bath was also clad in Cream marble.
Please note that due to the volume of inquiries & client privacy regarding our projects we unfortunately do not have the ability to answer basic questions about materials, specifications, construction methods, or paint colors. Two years after we completed our main floor remodel and addition project for a family from Washington D.C. they had grown dissatisfied with the rest of their house. In remodeling the upper floor, our greatest challenge was creating a clean modern interior feeling while dealing with seemingly random roof and ceiling slopes and traditional bay window forms. We managed to disguise these features and reworked the plan to create great bathrooms and bedrooms as well. The master suite includes a window seat and fireplace combination which can be enjoyed from multiple angles and a spacious bathroom. The children’s wing includes a clever bathroom designed to be shared by a teenage girl and boy. The two sink vanity is located in a niche off the hallway with separate rooms behind frosted glass pocket doors for the toilet and bath.

This new Master Bathroom provides all the luxury found in new construction but is actually in a 1930's home. The former bathroom was "gutted" and additional space was taken from an open dressing area. The new bathroom features custom cabinetry including his and hers sinks with plenty of storage, magnifying mirror, a large frameless & marble shower, radiator cover, lighting and window treatment. Existing hinged door was re-purposed to a pocket door allowing for better flow and more wall space in bathroom.

The configuration of a structural wall at one end of the bathroom influenced the interior shape of the walk-in steam shower. The corner chases became home to two recessed shower caddies on either side of a niche where a Botticino marble bench resides. The walls are white, highly polished Thassos marble. For the custom mural, Thassos and Botticino marble chips were fashioned into a mosaic of interlocking eternity rings. The basket weave pattern on the shower floor pays homage to the provenance of the house.
The linen closet next to the shower was designed to look like it originally resided with the vanity--compatible in style, but not exactly matching. Like so many heirloom cabinets, it was created to look like a double chest with a marble platform between upper and lower cabinets. The upper cabinet doors have antique glass behind classic curved mullions that are in keeping with the eternity ring theme in the shower.
