My wife and I are extremely pleased with the work Beth and Jeff did for us on our attached garage mud room addition. We had a vision of doing a tandem garage in approximately the same location as our old garage. Beth and Jeff in a nice way suggested that was not the best solution. We wound up with a garage that compliments our existing home. It is proportionately appropriate, and has enhanced the street presence of our home. It is very rewarding to get very positive comments from neighbors and passersby about the addition.

I cannot say enough of how highly I recommend DeBaker Design Group. Beth and Jeff were a brilliant team to work with and they helped me come up with an amazing renovation of our 1920s home. Most designers want to throw out everything old and start with a clean pallet. Beth and Jeff reused and integrated anything that retained the historic character of our home. Using the existing footprint, they turned the rear portion of our home upside down and made a much more useable kitchen, pantry, mudroom, library and terrace out of cramped, outdated spaces. Their recommendations and attention to detail were outstanding. You can view the photos in the Barrington kitchen renovation they highlight in Houzz. Their photos say it all and I’ve added additional photos below, including those highlighting the terrace overlooking the gardens.

This was the first house we designed. The process was daunting but both Beth and Jeff lead us down the right path. And that path was combining our ideas with their expertise. I am glad they were patient and I am glad they were experienced. It made the overall process work and we are now the proud owners of an amazing home. Beth and Jeff were easy to work with and patient through many iterations of design changes. The result was a completed major home addition and remodeling project we enjoy every day. It is of high quality architectural design and meets all of the lifestyle elements we hoped for.

Beth and Jeff are amazing. They delighted us with ideas we never even considered. Isn't that why you hire an architect? Our home is even more fabulous than we originally envisioned. I remember thinking, "I think I can design my own house." After the just the first round of drawings I took it all back and said "Honey, I'm glad I decided hired an architect." They communicated with us regularly, properly managed our expectations, and met all the deadlines set to complete work. They also continued to follow us throughout the build phase and made site visits to make sure everything was in order. In other words, they were a pleasure to work with and was the only part of the four level renovation that was headache free. Eerily, Beth and Jeff were also correct in the cost estimate it took for the renovation. Your mileage may vary, but our original cost was much lower because we were willing to cut corners. As time went on, we realized we didn't want to cut those corners and no matter how carefully you plan, you will spend an extra 10% on contingencies. Those two reasons are why Beth and Jeff's estimates proved to be so accurate in the end. We wholeheartedly recommend DeBaker Design Group. Did I mention it was the only headache free part of the process?

Jeff was a very attentive listener who provided excellent design opitions with great details. The drawings were very comprehensive and were the roadmap for my project--any questions were answered in the design drawings. He was also a great resource for answering my questions about managing an exterior redesign project, how certain trades are performed, and what to expect. I would highly recommend Jeff and DeBaker Design Group as he demonstrated patience, responsiveness, and delivered high-quality specifications.

We have a mid century contemporary home and wanted the kitchen remodel and addition to match the existing design. Beth and Jeff’s designs not only conformed to it but enhanced it as well. Beth did a fantastic job designing our new home. She was so creative and brought to life our ideas of how the house should be laid out and thought of layouts we hadnt even thought of. She presented three different options and we discussed what worked with each of them and she was able to mold what we liked best from each into one design that we now call home. She thought of things we never would have and now that we are living in the house they really make a difference. Our back yard covered patio is amazing as well. She knew we loved entertaining outdoors and made it a space we couldn’t imagine living without. She put a lot of time and effort into making sure everything was perfect and handled all the permits as well. It was a pleasure working with her and we are so happy with the outcome.
