Shaw architects drew a beautiful design for a two tier outdoor patio expansion. The design is beautiful and definitely will add value to our home with the extended outdoor living space. But…. A major issue has occurred and after repeated emails and phone calls to the firm (Keith) we have not received a call back. Needless to say the firm was paid in full. The plan has an outdoor fireplace (see thru) in the lower level which is screened and enclosed. It does not pass in selection because they proposed a fireplace for outdoors but it’s in an enclosed space. They did not allow for venting and codes and now that we are near the end of the project and asking for help to correct and resolve the issue we have received none. Repeated calls begging for a solution and correction and still no call backs. I consider that poor service as the two way fireplace they drew and suggested does not meet any code because of the design of the project. We’re still waiting and would love to speak to Keith to correct this issue even though his architect that worked at his firm has left and keeps telling us to call Keith as the work was done under him.

Keith Shaw and his design firm are top shelf. We had the privilege of building one of his homes in our subdivision on a beautiful lot with great views. Keith designed the home with this view in mind, taking full advantage with large windows and huge decks. The design considered the homeowners' desires and needs as well as smart, efficient design, creating a functional and beautiful home. I highly recommend his services to anyone in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area of central NC.

Keith Shaw designed our timber frame lake house and was an active participant in all phases. His knowledge of engineering and attention to detail made the project go smoothly and bypassed many potential glitches that could have happened when placing a large home on a small peninsula. We were impressed with his aability to work with the contractor and subcontractors. Keith used his extensive contacts to find the best fit for our taste and budget when we were planning the finishing touches. The house was built in SC while we were living in PA. This could have been a problem but Keith and his project coordinator, Miho Elliott, were totally involved and instrumental in the smooth communication among all crews and us in the development of the final plan. The creative aspect of the project was amazing, but we were also aware of the heart and genuine concern Keith put into his plan. Our needs and feelings were considered as we were presented with options and helped to make decisions.
