I never thought I’d be building a new house at my age. However, Hurricane Harvey changed all that. Chris was great to work with and understood what I wanted. Our first meeting was at my home, before demo, so he could get an idea of what I liked. I didn’t want a huge house – my main wants were a nice kitchen with an island & big pantry, a walk-in closet and a garage. Chris gave me exactly what I wanted first go-round, with very minor changes. My wife and I couldn't be happier with the way our custom home plans turned out. When we originally sat down with Chris all we had were disjointed ideas and a budget we were afraid wouldn't cover half of what we wanted. Chris listened to our ideas, understood our budget constraints, and went to work! The final product completely blew away our expectations and by using smart design principles he was able to get us everything we had hoped for while respecting our initial budget. He was responsive throughout the process and took the time to understand what we wanted and why. Then he was able to give us some of his own ideas to fill the gaps (specifically, he re-shaped our media room and our pantry beyond our expectations and gave us options we didn't know existed!) I really hope I never have to sell this house and design another one, but if I do Chris will be the first person I call.

In the process of building our new house, my wife and I found Chris through recommendations from a few custom home builder friends. I found wyrick designs online after searching for a year for the right floor plan for us. The floor plan I found was exactly what I wanted minus some small changes. We could not recommend Wyrick Residential Design more highly. We wish there were a 10 star rating instead of only a 5. We were recommended to Chris and company by a builder friend and we are happy that we met him. Chris Wyrick took our cartoonish drawings on note paper and turned them into our dream house. He understands building science and codes but also how to turn dreams to reality. Chris and staff help put our house in order based on our conversations with him and created the perfect solutions to fit everything we could dream of into a beautiful, succinct, precise design and adjusted them as he attained a greater understanding of our wishes. His ability to listen to our plans and dreams and turn them into viable, affordable blueprints was uncanny to us. Those are strong traits in a company but they only scratch the surface of the Wyrick family. Chris, Blake Jackson and company really stand behind their clients in times of crises as we found out oh too well. We had the unfortunate luck to run into the Gestapo HOA in our subdivision when they reneged on our plan approvals. The HOA assertion was that we didn’t meet the ACC requirements for the % of stone/brick fascia vs. siding in their covenants for our new house. Wyrick and associates stood by our side the entire time we were negotiating to add more brick to comply with the HOA and even adjusted our siding plans several times in order to comply with the demands while trying to save us as much money as possible. Wyrick Residential Design never let us down or tired of the effort it took to shut the HOA down. It was a really rough time for our family but we always knew that Chris and his crew had our backs. They helped us through the whole ordeal. Our house is almost complete now and we could not be happier. We would highly recommend anyone who is looking for a faith based company to help with their house plans to go visit Chris and Blake. They will not let you down and you will not be disappointed. Chris saved us from near disaster. My husband and I made the mistake of not hiring Chris Wyrick the first time. We showed our house plans to a contractor for a bid. He was aghast. He said these are the worse plans I've ever seen. After much lamenting and researching we found Chris came highly recommended. I explained to him in a panic stricken voice that we had to scap our blueprints and start over. He calmy explained we could do it. He was very accommodating to our hectic face paced lives made more so by our short time frame. He helped us design a fantastic mountain modern home. We found Wyrick Residential Design to be extremely helpful and creative in guiding us in the planning for our new "dream home". Chris Wyrick is very professional and knowledgeable, obviously experienced in design of upscale, custom homes but has also been a very effective communicator to us about ideas for our new home and how they can actually be built and realized. (He is also very tactful about some of our ideas that we may want to reconsider due to feasibility, cost vs. benefit, functionality, etc.). Wyrick Residential Design, thus far, has truly provided us with "soup to nuts" service, from initial introductory meetings, first pass design and drawings and currently to recommendations/preparation/distribution of bid packages for selected builders. Designing a home is a very intricate and complex process. Chris Wyrick and his design team were extremely professional, courteous and patient during the entire design process. My husband and I hired Wyrick Residential Design this year to design our custom home, and it was one of the best decisions we ever made. This company is 110% committed to their customers. The owner, Chris, drove an hour and half out to our property to get a visual of our land and where we wanted to build our custom home. Then he agreed to meeting locations closer to our workplaces for all of our meetings, rather than making us drive to their office in Cypress. Every meeting, Chris was professional and ready to get to work. He brought electronic tools that allowed him to display and edit our plans right in front of us while we were talking. This allowed us to play a bigger role in the design process, and it ensured that we were all on the same page for our custom house design. I've talked to so many friends who were frustrated about their design process, because their designer or architecht "took notes" during their meetings and made the changes on their own afterwards. Why were they frustrated? The customers went into future meetings expecting to see those "notes" implemented, but they were often misinterpreted or overlooked. Consequently, they were back at square one requesting the same changes over and over again. Wyrick Residential Design understands the importance of customers being involved in the design process of their custom home. Their process caters to understanding their customers likes and ideas. At the very beginning of their process, they invite you to share photos or even share your houzz idea boards with their staff. I recall Chris mentioning photos from our houzz idea boards many times in our meetings, reitterating that him and his staff really do use these tools to become more accustomed to their customers likes and ideas and, therefore, create the perfect home design for you! In terms of design knowledge, Chris has cutting edge design knowledge and ideas. With that being said, I think it's important to note that he still pays close attention to the functionality and overall usability of the homes he designs. He communicates well with customers in oder to aid them in developing the best home design for their individual lifestyle and preferences. Communication is so key in your design process. Chris is thorough, communicative, and excellent at bringing new ideas to the table, but he also does an excellent job of stopping and listing to what you want. He doesn't try to push ideas on you. He is receptive of your style and your requests. He has excellent listening skills. While I've said a lot about Chris, the owner of Wyrick Residential Design, I think it's important to talk about the other employees too. Blake is the sales representative at Wyrick Residential Design. Blake is upbeat, positive, and quick to communicate with customers. He met all deadlines for our project, and he reminded us about meetings, invoices, etc. He always gave us 110% and streamlined our design process. In addition to Blake being an impeccable right-hand man to Chris, Wyrick Residential Desing has a great team of CAD designers too. The CAD designers behind the scenes at Wyrick Residential Design are high caliber employees who give 110% to their customers. When I dropped into the office on a whim one day to drop off an invoice and ask a question about one area of our design, I received excellent ideas and feedback from several of the CAD designers. They were happy to bounce ideas back and forth and answer questions based on their experience and knowledge. They were incredible. I don't know how Chris hires employees, but there is no doubt he hand picks each person with a lot of time, thought, and energy. Overall, this company is really outstanding. When my husband and I set out to hire a designer in 2014, we were very selective on who we wanted to design our dream home. At the completion of our project, we know we hired the best company possible. I have worked with a number of design firms in the past but working with the Wyrick Residential Design team has been the best experience. They take the extra steps to make sure that the client is pleased with the design as well as educate them and make suggestions on their design options.

I moved here and showed some plans of a former house. I asked Blake Jackson and Robin Imschweiler to design me a new house similar to what I had previously owned. I needed them to totally revise the plans and using some of the previous ideas adding many new changes and more square footage. I needed a complete set of plans with 3 sets of builder plans. I was amazed with the results. Both Blake and Robin listened to all I wanted and exactly how I wanted it and they came through on time and at the cost they quoted at the very beginning. They are very willing to make revisions in their designs to improve upon a plan better and/or to accommodate client wishes. I have used Wyrick Residential Design on 40+ projects since 2007. What I love most about Chris is that he is truly passionate about his work. His pricing is reasonable, and his previous experience as a custom builder gives him a competitive advantage over others in his field because he had a good pulse on costs related to the construction of the home.

We hired him and paid 50% to start our drawing. We practically never heard from him again, until one month later when we had to push for an answer and comments regarding a document we sent with all the details, he just said he was going to implement it, but that was it. However, he never provided not even one comment or any work. On the second month we decided to demand a refund. We believe he is taking more work than he can handle, and ignores clients to make them wait and wait without having to deal with them, in other words, gaining time not thinking that ignoring clients is the worst insult for some of them. No professional ignores his clients regardless any circumstances. Don't recommend.
