Rockwood Cabinetry

Let me start by saying the cabinets are beautiful. However, working with Rockwood has been a nightmare. We are 9 months into a project that cost us more than a new Porsche and we still are waiting for them to get the cabinets completed. Missing doors, shelves; measuring incorrectly and having to move windows as a result; mismatched walnut; paint chipping off doors; blaming other subs for their lack of delivery. An overall nightmare. Worse - they just don’t seem to care. Brian has no sense of urgency to remedy these issues - just blames someone else or something else. Update: a month after posting, the situation has not changed. After forgetting to order cabinet doors and not responding to our builder, they finally admitted they had not ordered the doors. Now the doors are ordered and installation was supposed to happen yesterday. You will not be surprised to learn that didn’t happen. Incorrect hinges and now we’re left hanging in the wind as they “figure it out.” My favorite part about working with Rockwood is that it always someone else’s fault. This time it was my designer and the wine shelves she ordered, despite those same shelves sitting in the Rockwood shop for more than 3 months. I’ll provide a new update once something changes or we pass a year mark on the contract! Opening a poly market to see which one it will be.

The cabinet project was a disaster from start to finish. rockwood took on work they were not prepared to do. Early issues included failure to correct drawings after errors were brought up, incomplete shop drawings, and built cabinets which did not conform to their own shop drawings. Mid-project issues included shoddy installation (uppers do not rest on the countertop as intended with visible fill lines, cabinets are not square for stove opening, etc). The paint job on the cabinets has visible flaws and drips, and has chipped off in places in less than a year. Installation dragged on for months and was never completed. Company stopped returning communications after a clear plan for completion was requested.

Working with Brian and his team was definitely the high point of building our new home. From the first phone call, every interaction was a pleasure. Their craftsmanship is exceptional as is their customer service. Our home has a beautiful ocean view, but the first thing everyone notices when they enter is the gorgeous cabinetry. We have worked with so many different contractors, builders and carpenters. Many have been excellent, but none can compare with Rockwood Cabinetry. If you are wiling to invest in high end cabinets, there is no better company to use.

After two custom built kitchens in California and experiencing the difference between those cabinetry companies and their style and quality of work and the old proverb "third time is a charm" Rockwood Cabinetry provided all the charm! The Rockwood brothers and their team of pro installers and painters traveled about 90 minutes to customize every detail of our kitchen, pantry, laundry room and three bathrooms. My husband and I knew what we wanted and Rockwook's understanding, expertise and patience provided us with professional cabinetry work and we couldn't be happier.

Rockwood Cabinetry is a family-owned business with long experience and a crew of very talented and dedicated drafting and cabinetmaking professionals. They came highly recommended by our general contractor, Charter Construction, and did not disappoint -- in fact they far exceeded our expectations. Their team of builders / installers were true artisans -- painstaking attention was paid to detail, wood grain and color matching, fit and finish. Tim and Brian Berg, father and son, are committed to high ethical standards, customer care, quality materials and workmanship, and accurate estimating. Their part of our project was finished on time and on budget. They were a pleasure to work with, and we're thrilled with the beauty and quality of the finished product! The custom rift-cut white oak looks sensational with new strand bamboo plank floors, powder-blue glass backsplash tile, bold black hardware and black double sink. Stunning!

Finding someone to remodel my kitchen felt like, 'on-line-dating'. Putting a lot of trust in someone you don't know and making a commitment. I contacted other companies, explained what I wanted to do, they took forever to get back to me and I thought selling my home would be easier. I do not write reviews, but I do read them and will even go as far as to tell anyone that would like to contact me in regards to Rockwood. Brian I give you permission to give them my email. In March my oven broke, it was finally time to get new appliances and remodel my kitchen. I contacted Rockwood, Brian was at my house that week, sent me a quote the following week. Tim came to my house to finalize my wishes and we started a few weeks later. I was terrified to remodel my home, and felt safe every step of the way. When I wasn't sure of something, Tim was there. When I was overwhelmed, Tim was there. When I would think of something and send Brian a message at 2am on a Saturday night.... I had to make sure that I wrote in my email- 'do not respond to me until Monday'. He wrote back, "okay, talk to you on Monday." My Kitchen is beautiful, the workmanship is stunning and their eye for detail surpasses my expectations. When the job was completed, they said, "if you find anything wrong, send us a message." Not really trusting the process and since i had already paying them in full, I thought would they really care. Sure enough.... I called and they came. Rockwood- Thank you !!

Rockwood was recommended to us by our project designer, Maison Inc. Throughout the entire process, the Bergs were professional and focused on quality and customer service. From the design phase to completion of the punch list, Brian was prompt in our communications and responsive to our requests. We were able to visit the shop and were impressed with the caliber of the craftsmanship being done there. The installers were terrific with attention to detail and cleanliness. Final touches and last minute requests were handled with the same degree of service as the early contacts. Our kitchen cabinetry is beautiful to look at and a pleasure to work in.

Brian Berg and his team at Rockwood cabinets did a fantastic job on the cabinetry for our master bath. It wasn’t a big project but they treated it like it was the most important. The quality of their work surpasses anything I’ve seen in recent years. They are old school masters. When it comes time for a kitchen redo, Rockwood will be making the cabinetry for us. Their work is beautiful!

I have known and worked with Rockwood Cabinetry for nearly 10 years. Tim Berg, and his family owned company, built custom cabinets and furniture pieces for my clients over several years and did a gorgeous job. When it came time to update my master bath and kitchen, I knew who to call. Brian Berg worked closely with me on every detail and offered several recommendations to keep me on budget. Simply the best and most fun contractor we had on the project. We sat down a couple of times to review the drawings. We got great creative input from Brian at Rockwood. It was fun working with them. The cabinets are fantastic. We have built-ins, odd sizes a pantry, etc. All of very high quality. They work perfectly as well. Wish we had another house to build and could do it again.
